State Senator Tammy Irons to speak to Madison County Teens on Legislative session

HUNTSVILLE, AL, March 5, 2013 — Alabama state Senator Tammy Irons, 1st District (Lauderdale, Colbert Counties) will speak to the Madison County Teenage Democrats Association on Saturday, March 9 at 10:00 am at Democratic Headquarters, 2835 N. Memorial Parkway.

Sen. Irons will speak on the current legislative session, her third as a member of the Senate. The public is invited to attend.

Senator Tammy Irons was elected to the Alabama Senate in the general elections held November 2, 2010.

Senator Irons previously served one term in the Alabama House of Representatives.

She received her B.S. in accounting from the University of North Alabama and her law degree from the University of Memphis. After law school, Senator Irons served as a judicial law clerk for the Tennessee Court of Appeals. She is a business attorney and owns the Irons Law Firm.

Among the legislative committees that Sen. Irons serves on are the Constitution, Campaign Finance and Elections; Banking and Insurance; Energy and Natural Resources; Job Creation and Economic Development; and Small Business

Senator Irons has served as a member of various boards including the Shoals Entrepreneurial Center, Shoals Economic Development Authority, SafePlace, Inc., and the Boys and Girls Clubs. 

She is past-president of the Lauderdale County Bar Association and a member of the President’s Cabinet at the University of North Alabama.

The Madison County Teenage Democrats Association is dedicated to the education and involvement of young people in politics.
